One Man Star Wars/Lord of the Rings Returns to Edinburgh Fringe Festival

One man army Charles Ross returns to the Edinburgh Festival which his unique take on the Stars Wars Trilogy and Lord of the Rings.

So as I mentioned when talking about the Age of Geek show a while back I will be dipping my culture toes into world of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August. I’m both excited and somewhat overwhelmed by just the amount of stuff that’s going on at the event. As part of the my preparation for the festival I have been making a list of some of the shows which will lend themselves to a plug on the GS site and I can think of none more deserving  than Charles Ross and his one man shows.

Now I’ve already seen Charlies when he came to Northampton a few years back with his one man Star Wars Show was which incredible and was my first time taking in a theatre show in years. Seriously this guy’s performance  has to be seen to be believed, I still don’t know how he did it. I left the theatre with a smile on my face which did not shift for days.

However I’ve never had the chance to check out his One Man Lord of the Rings show, which we’ve already reviewed on this site. It would be criminal of me not to check out this other show as he will be at the Fringe Festival.  My plan is after that to start my campaign to hassle Charlie into doing One man Indiana Jones…together we can make it happen!

Check out the press release below for all the details and watch out for more Geek inspired events I will be looking to check out at the Festival. If you’ve already seen one of these shows then I’m sure you’ve already lined yourself up to go see the other and if you’ve not seen ether…what are you waiting for?

Canadian actor Charles Ross returns with the two shows that have consistently played to sell-out houses at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. But for the first time ever this year, he will perform them in the same run on alternate days – One Man Star Wars™ Trilogy on odd dates, One Man Lord of the Rings™ on evens – over just two weeks, 13-27 August.

During the fortnight, he will recreate the worlds of Star Wars and Middle-earth, armed with no more than a pair of elbow pads and his outrageous imagination. No props or costumes are required as he hurtles through both trilogies at breakneck speed, playing thousands of characters, fighting the battles, singing the soundtracks and condensing the plot into just 60 minutes.

After taking the Fringe by storm with One Man Star Wars™ Trilogy in 2006 and following up with One Man Lord of the Rings™ in 2009, Ross has established a successful career in the UK, where he has toured extensively, completed two West End runs and appeared at Glastonbury Festival and Star Wars Celebration Europe. Don’t miss out on seeing this Fringe favourite in action this year! /

‘If you like The Lord of the Rings trilogy, you’ll love Charlie Ross’ version – and if you didn’t, well, at least his is shorter’ – Sir Ian McKellen
