Pan Macmillan Announce James Herbert Award for Horror Writing

Pan Macmillan have announced the creation of a new award for horror writers to aspire to. The inaugural James Herbert Award for Horror Writing is now up for grabs to any horror writer that will be published in English, in the UK this year. Self-published novels are not eligible however.

The winning author will receive a prize for £2000 and a specially designed commemorative statuette. It is hoped that the annual award will help promote, publicise and celebrate the horror genre and the people who create the dark and twisted tales that keep it going.

I think that the award is a great idea and with the James Herbert name to it, I am sure it be a real boon to the reputation of the eventual winner.

Details of entry and rules for this year’s award can be found here.
