Penguin Books to Launch Graphic Novel Imprint

The Penguin Group USA have announced that their Berkely/NAL division is set to launch a line of Graphic Novels, comprising both original works and adaptations of previously published works.

Under the helmage of former DC Comics man Richard Johnson and called “Inklit,” they have lined up a number of popular headliners to push what is a new format for Penguin.

First up is a reprint of Patricia Brigg’s Alpha and Omega: Volume 1, released as two volumes, each containing four issues of the previously published Dynamite Comics serialisation. However, we are promised new collections through 2013 from such writers as Charlaine Harris, Laurell K. Hamilton, Karin Slaughter and Sage Stossel.

It’s an interesting direction with an interesting list of names attached, most of which have dedicated fanbases who I would imagine will give the new imprint a decent start.
