Premiere Date for Starz’s Camelot

Is the age of vampires on it’s way out to make room for a resurgence of medieval-themed media? It seems that way with the success of BBC’s Merlin, upcoming Game of Thrones for HBO and rumored Pendragon movie! U.S premium cable network, Starz is offering another take on Arthurian legend with Camelot. The premiere date has been set and it’s scheduled to air on April 1st, 2011 at 10PM EST/PST, taking over the slot from Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

The show has a 10-episode order and stars Jamie Campbell Bower (Twilight) as King Arthur, Joseph Fiennes (FlashForward, Shakespeare in Love) as Merlin, Eva Green (Casino Royale, The Golden Compass) as the sorceress Morgan, Tamsin Egerton (St. Trinian’s) as Guinevere, Claire Forlani (CSI: NY) as Igraine and Peter Mooney (Zone of Separation) as Kay.

The series’ official description is below:

In the wake of King Uther’s sudden death, chaos threatens to engulf Britain. When the sorcerer Merlin has visions of a dark future, he installs the young and impetuous Arthur, Uther’s unknown son and heir, who has been raised from birth as a commoner. But Arthur’s cold and ambitious half sister Morgan will fight him to the bitter end, summoning unnatural forces to claim the crown in this epic battle for control. These are dark times indeed for the new King, with Guinevere being the only shining light in Arthur’s harsh world. Faced with profound moral decisions, and the challenge of uniting a kingdom broken by war and steeped in deception, Arthur will be tested beyond imagination. Forget everything you think you know … this is the story of Camelot that has never been told before.

Is there a chance Guinevere is actually portrayed as GOOD in this one? I would really like that. So far BBC’s “Merlin” is the only one that is going that route.

I think there’s always a chance but there’s been no indication that I’ve seen on how this show will handle Guinevere.
