Press Release – SCI FI To Screen Exclusive V Preview at MCM Expo 2009

As a huge fan of the original V mini series (and no I didn’t like V the series) I’ve been following the news of the remake with a mixture of fear and hopefulness. I’ve liked the look of the trailer and the few scraps of footage that have been thrown my way but as yet haven’t had to really get my teeth into until now.

Fans of the show who, like myself, will be attending the MCM Expo this coming weekend will be lucky enough to get the chance to watch an exclusive preview at the show.

SCI FI To Screen Exclusive V Preview At Convention

London – 19 October 2009 – An alien invasion awaits visitors to this month’s London MCM Expo as the SCI FI channel unveils the eagerly awaited 2009 re-imagining of cult-classic V for the first time in the UK – a week ahead of its US launch.

The highly-anticipated, visually stunning series launches in the UK on the channel next year but fans will be able to get an exclusive sneak peek at the first ten minutes of the pilot episode, which sees the Visitors – or Vs – arrive on Earth to promote a message of peace.

Simultaneously appearing over every major city in the world, the Vs soon build up a devoted following as they offer to share advanced technology. A handful of cynics, however, believe the Vs may actually hide a more malevolent agenda.

V stars Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost), Scott Wolf (Party of Five), Morris Chestnut (Boyz in the Hood), Joel Gretsch (The 4400), Lourdes Benedicto (24), Logan Huffman (America), Laura Vandervoort (Smallville) and Morena Baccarin (Firefly).

“V is one of the most highly anticipated series of the year – and we can’t think of a better place to showcase it and whet fans’ appetites then at MCM Expo – where we know it’s going to go down an absolute storm,” said SCI FI’s James Newton, Head of Channels, Universal Networks International.

“Like millions of other people I watched the original V and can’t forget those jaw-dropping moments which managed to chill a generation. Who can’t forget the rat eating scene or the lizard-tongued baby?

“Audiences will be left equally gripped by this brand new series and anyone seeing our exclusive preview at the convention will be on tenterhooks until the full season launch on SCI FI next year,” added James, who will be introducing the preview and hosting panel discussions across the weekend.

The V exclusive will be airing at 12.15pm on Saturday 24th October and 1pm on Sunday 25th October at MCM Expo, being held at ExCel in London’s Docklands.

SCI FI is also hosting a panel and signing sessions with the cast of another of this year’s first-run shows – Warehouse 13, which received its UK premiere on SCI FI in September and is attracting huge TV audiences. Eddie McClintock, Joanne Kelly and Allison Scagliotti will be attending the convention and meeting fans on both days of the event.

  1. I think the 1980’s version had a better story line. Even though effects where cheesy.

The original’s uniforms were better too. The new lizards’ garb is rather bland and they have no logos or rank designations at all.

I’m thinking about making an original series Visitor uniform for Fandemonium 2010 this August. That’d go nicely with the Space Battleship Yamato uniform I made for 2009.
