Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that the PS4 sales have reached 6 million units globally as of March 2 and following its launch in Japan on the 22nd February. The PS4 sold over 320,000 units in its first weekend in Japan and has gone on to sell over 700,000 in its first 2 weeks. This figure has helped the consoles which is now available in 57 countries following the Japanese launch to hit 6 million.

Sony also confirmed they had sold 13.7 million games t. This figure includes both packaged and digital games. Sony  revealed that more than 100 million shares have been captured using the Share button on the PS4 controller. It also says more than 3.6 million gameplay broadcasts have been streamed from PS4s using Twitch and Ustream.

Sony has now surpassed is global sales target of 5 million PS4’s before the end of March by a million units with a few weeks to go. Microsoft is yet to provide an update to its sales figures since announcing they had sold 3.2 millions Xbox Ones as of the end of 2013. I personally think that we will get an announcements from Microsoft later this month following the release of Titanfall which is expected to be a system seller for the company.
