Q&A With The Cast of Justice League: DOOM

Photo by Gary MiereanuLast week, I attended the premiere of the latest film from DC Comics Animated Original Movies Justice League: Doom and I’m glad I did! The capacity crowd loved in the humorous and action-packed film which was followed by an energetic post-screening panel discussion and Q&A moderated by Gary Miereanu, Director of Publicity for Warner Brothers Animation. In attendance were Phil Morris (Vandal Savage), Kevin Conroy (Batman) and Andrea Romano (Dialogue/Casting Director).

Read some thoughts about the film, watch the panel discussion + Q&A and look at some photos from both the NY & LA premieres after the jump:

The story finds the Justice League fighting for their lives when a team of super villains discover and implement the Dark Knight’s “contingency plans” for stopping any rogue Justice League member. The story is inspired by Mark Waid’s much-heralded “JLA: Tower of Babel.”  and is the final DC Universe film script written by the late Dwayne McDuffie. His widow Charlotte Fullerton was in attendance – a great honor for those who loved his work.

I thought that the film was wonderfully written – lots of snarky, snappy one-liners that made the audience laugh, with just the right amount of horror (or so the gasps suggested). Of course, no superhero movie is complete without lots of fight scenes and there are plenty to go around in Justice League: Doom.

Additionally, the pace and flow of the multiple stories is superb; you’re never really confused about what’s going on with any of the characters when they’re on their own. Their individual situations are masterfully brought together for the large-scale group sequences; the voices of fan-favorites Nathan Fillion and Michael Rosenbaum as Green Lantern and Flash helped make this a favorite for me – what can I say, I’m more than a bit of a fangirl over those two!

The cast in attendance were a pleasure to listen to (and laugh with!). I walked away with a greater appreciation for the voice acting process – I should’ve listened to my 14 year old self when considering career choices!
