Reboot Remake Corner: Next up Timecop?

TimecopposterYes.  Timecop.   The original 1994 Van Damme action-fest told the story of an officer working for a security agency that regulates time travel fending for his life against a shady politician who has a tie to his past.  Lost of high kicking, nude Mia Kirshner and improbably timey wimey stuff followed.   But now, it seems, the film that few people remember is next up on the Hollywood Wheel Of Remake.

The Hollywood Reporter have stated that Universal is once again looking at their back catalogue as the creative bankruptcy that is rife in Hollywood strikes once again.  To be honest I’m less bothered about this one – the inferior sequel and rubbish TV show did little to enhance what was never one of JCVD’s best and the concept – time travelling police catching time travelling crooks actually lends itself to further stories.

That said the original had talent galore – including Mike Richardson (founder of Dark Horse),  Mark Verheiden and of course director Peter Hyams.  Okay maybe not the last one. Tom McNulty produces, whose films Date Night, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, and Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star just make you rush out with excitement to prebook your tickets. No other cast/crew/script writer has been mentioned. Can’t wait. No really!
