MCM has Record Breaking Year with More in 2015

The MCM Expo Group has revealed that it has been an excellent year for its conventions, seeing overall attendances almost double from 258,000 in 2013 to 401,000 in 2014. The ball started rolling with last May’s 25th MCM London Comic Con which was the first event to pass 100,000 visitors. The second London Comic Con later in the year reached 110,000. The show also featured Sony PlayStation as an exhibitor for the first time and an increase in support from other major brands such as GAME and Nintendo.

MCM’s Birmingham, Manchester, Telford and Glasgow shows all saw increases in attendance as well, with the Manchester show expanded to run across the whole weekend for the first time.

2014 also saw three new over-seas shows in the form of MCM Ireland Comic Con, MCM Belfast Comic Con and Stockholm Comic Con.

Plans for 2015 include expanding the MCM London Comic Con to three full days and the debut of the Comic Con Malmö, on 11th-13th September 2015.

It’s nice to see comic conventions doing so well. At a time when other events in other walks of life seem to be increasingly cancelled, it just goes to show that there has probably never been a better time to be a comic/film/gaming/etc geek!
