SHOW REVIEW: ONE MAN STAR WARS SHOW

Last night I attended the One Man Star Wars Trilogy. I had heard some good feedback about this show. The writer and star of the show is Charlie Ross, “Canadian actor, playwright and self-proclaimed ‘professional geek’” has been doing this show for many years and he has perfected his craft.

This is a show that covers all the original trilogy by using Ross’ voice, acting, noise and body movement to full effect. Anyone can recite word for word Star Wars, OK maybe not anyone but a lot of geeks could if they tried but how many can actually perform not one but all three films including space battles in under 90 minutes. Charlie Ross can, that is how many.

This show is for geeks who love Star Wars but it should also been seen by people wanting to watch a talented actor using his craft to entertain an audience. He could not use every line or scene but he did choose key ones.

Star Wars: A New Hope is given more time than Empire and Jedi but that is fine as it gives you time to get to know how Ross works.

But this is also not just a copy of Star Wars, he also includes little adlibs that will bring a smile and chuckle to your face. A big highlight for me was his Jabba the Hut but I will not spoil it for you.

Ross is an engaging performer who is proud of his show and rightly so. He also performs the One Man Lord of the Rings.

The tour is still going on through the UK and I urge you to get a ticket where you can as it really is a sight to behold. A big thank you to Charlie and his team for the invite.
