Ridley Scott To Film New Sci-Fi Shorts for YouTube

ridley_scott_alienHopefully he’s making up for Prometheus…

Alien, Blade Runner & Prometheus director Ridley Scott has agreed to make a series of short sci-fi films for the YouTube channel Machinima. Machinima is the number one video entertainment network for gamers around the world, featuring gameplay videos, trailers, original series, live-streams, and the most up-to-date news for the gamer generation

Scott will mentor/oversee twelve films from new directors, who’ll showcase their work on Machinima to see which film draws the biggest online response.

It’s a slick move, as showcasing these new films on Machinima is a guerilla-marketing way of reaching a new, large audience. The channel reportedly the most popular global video entertainment network for men aged 18-34, the perfect demographic for such films, and averages more than 2.6bn video views per month.

Previous successes on Machinima include the video game spin-off series Mortal Kombat: Legacy and very brilliant Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.
