Warner Bros have posted a second Comic-Con poster design for their upcoming 300: Rise of an Empire, sequel to the 2006 Frank Miller classic graphic novel which starred Gerald Butler as King Leonidas. This one features Lena Headey reprising her role of Queen Gorgo, Butler’s widow from the original movie. A good choice of front given her profile in Game of Thrones, The Purge and the upcoming The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, as well as her scene stealing performance in Dredd (now out on a disc format of your choice).

Based on Frank Miller’s upcoming sequel graphic novel “Xerxes” and told in the ground-breaking visual style of the original 300, this new story takes the battle to the high seas, as Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by trying to change the course of the war.  300: Rise of an Empire details Themistokles efforts against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemesia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

Directed by Noam Murro and written by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, the expected March 2014 release also stars Hans Matheson, David Wenham, Igal Naor, Callan Mulvey, Jack O’Connell and Andrew Tiernan.
