SDCC 2013: Tom Cruise Future War Film Changes Name

The new movie from Tom Cruise Edge of Tomorrow is not out till next year but we are slowly getting some bits of information and this week at SDCC we will find out more including why it has a new name.

I have been told many times by my friend to read All You Need is Kill which is the book that this movie is based on but still have not had the chance. The movie started filming last year in various locations and also stars Emily Blunt but until now we were told it was keeping the name of the book. That has all changed this week with SDCC around the corner. The movie is now called Edge of Tomorrow and it will have a presence at Comic-Con.

The epic action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Check out the special SDCC poster below which I have to say looks pretty badass to me.

There is also a hashtag to keep an eye on #LiveDieRepeat. Below is also the first pic of Cruise and Blunt together. The film comes out next year.
