The SF Ball 23 for the Teenage Cancer Trust
From the 3rd to the 5th of February, Southampton’s Grand Harbour Hotel will be hosting the SF Ball 23, with Gates McFadden (Dr. Beverly Crusher – Star Trek The Next Generation) headlining the guest list!
The SF Ball is one of the UK’s most well known and longest running Science Fiction conventions and not-for-profit events, raising some much needed funds for good causes. The Teenage Cancer Trust is a brilliant charity who create world-class cancer services for young people in the UK, providing life-changing care and support, so young people don’t have to face cancer alone.
Alongside Gates McFadden, attendees of the SF Ball will get to see other guests such as: Terry Molloy (Davros in Doctor Who), Roger Ashton-Griffiths (Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Merlin), Ian Beattie (Alexander, The Tudors, Game of Thrones), Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones, Ripper Street, The Tudors), Larry Nemecek (Star Trek Continues) and Dave Freeman (Concept artist for the new Star Trek films)
Additional to the obvious draw of such a great line up of guests, the SF Ball 23 has loads more to offer attendees throughout the whole event. Each day of the classic convention includes Q&A’s, professional photography and autograph sessions with the stars, activities, challenges and art/fiction competitions, an emporium of merchandise and collectables available for sale in a large dealer’s room, a special table-top gaming room, an exhibition hall including roaming full size Daleks, life-sized, fan-built recreations of sets, replica models and displays from talented model makers, not to mention several opportunities to party after each day including discos, karaoke and full interactive games on stage with Trekologist B Jones.
Obviously the event is called the SF Ball 23 and not just the SF Convention, so the weekend doesn’t just stop with normal convention goings on! Living up to its title of `Ball`, ticket holders can also enjoy highlights across the weekend that one simply doesn’t get with other conventions. Attendees (with a Weekend Dining ticket) can on Saturday go to a full, three-course black-tie/fancy dress dinner with live cabaret, a ‘money-can’t buy’ raffle, including incredibly unique prizes and a Game Of Thrones themed party with fancy dress/cosplay competitions, a celebrity cabaret and a late night disco with games and activities that all can enjoy. On the Sunday highlights include: a time travel themed late night disco and Karaoke evening and another opportunity to play one of SF Ball 23’s impressive interactive audio-visual games, Geekheads! Those with a Gold ticket can attend and exclusive cocktail party on Friday evening.
