Spartacus: War of the Damned – SDCC Interview with Liam McIntyre

SpartacusWOtDThe third interview in our countdown to War of the Damned is with the man himself – Spartacus, the leader of the slave rebellion.

Go behind the cut for the SDCC round table with Liam McIntyre.

Spartacus isn’t a show that’s easy on the characters or actors, but no one had a tougher role than Liam McIntyre. Before he even picked up a script, the odds were stacked against him. It was nothing personal, of course, but he had the monumental task of replacing the much-loved Andy Whitfield, who played Spartacus in the first season and then ultimately lost his battle with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Despite having to fill such large shoes (or sandals, as it were), Liam’s done incredibly well, and I think it’s safe to say he’s won over the masses. He’s carried that success over to his character: by the time War of the Damned kicks off, Spartacus has amassed an army of 30,000 strong. No small feat, I am sure.

It helps that Liam is an incredibly nice guy, as you’ll see in the video. Check out his “pure enthusiasm” below.

Tune in to see Spartacus and his army spill some Roman blood when War of the Damned premieres on Friday, January 25th.
