Syfy Cancels Sanctuary

After four seasons Helen Magnus and her Sanctuary team head off into the sunset.

The show that started out as a web series that was picked up as a full series was the brain child of Amanda Tapping, Damian Kindler and Martin Wood. Although over the years the show had it’s ups and downs in terms of quality for me it was a show with a lot of heart that I always enjoyed and fun cast of characters that were easy to warm to and some interesting stories.

The good thing for fans of the show, like myself, who watched the final season is that it went out on a high and gave a great closure to the season and the series as a whole. Whether or not the makers could see the writing on the wall and planned accordingly is a question only they can answer.

Over on Facebook/Twitter this is what some of the cast and crew had to say about the news.

To all the fans of @SanctuarySeries we love and adore you. Thank you for the love and support. Now to the long dark tea time of my soul. 🙁

Will continue to try and do Tapping Tuesdays. Cause those were super fun! Xo p.s. @sanctuary4kids is still going strong and will continue! – Amanda Tapping

“Thanks to our wonderful @SanctuarySeries fans for 4 years of love & support. You gave us a great life. See you on the next one. XO Will Z” – Robin Dunne

“Thank you for all the kind words & support. #Sanctuary was truly a life-changing experience for me. You were all very much a part of that.” – Ryan Robbins

I will concluded this news piece by stealing  and slightly amending a quote from The Last Starfighter – ‘The death of a TV show s a primitive concept. I prefer to think of it  as battling evil in another dimension’.
