It seems I may need to make a trip down to London for the May edition of MCM expo. It has been announced today that Sylvester McCoy – my favourite and the second best Doctor after Patrick Troughton (in my opinion) – will be a special guest at the event which takes place from Friday 22 May to Sunday 24 May, 2015.
Sylvester McCoy is a natural performer and a joy to watch on stage. I had the fortune to meet him when I was but a boy of twelve in Holyhead and the encounter still stands out as a favourite moment from that period! Here’s a snippit about the man from the expo’s press release:
Instantly recognisable with his trademark panama hat, McCoy is credited with turning the Seventh Doctor from a comic character into a more complex and poignant figure, with Doctor Who head writer Steven Moffat commenting that ‘instead of going for the obvious that he’s little and funny, he goes for mysterious and dark and wise and terribly sad’.
More recently, Sylvester McCoy has appeared on the big screen as eccentric nature-loving wizard Radagast the Brown in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy.
There’s no news yet of any panels or signing sessions, but you can get more information about the expo itself by using one of the following methods:
