Last month I attended and had a fantastic time at the official celebrations in London for everyone’s fave rebellious sci-fi anthology comic 2000 AD. Rather than just let a few of us have the fun, Irish fans (and anyone who can make it to Northern Ireland) will be pleased to know that this May the 2000 AD gang will be turning the Enniskillen Comics Fest into another chance to celebrate the comic’s forty year legacy.
The main convention will take place on Saturday 6th May at Enniskillen Castle. Visitors are promised a whole host of stuff kicking off including panels, interviews, guest signings and a load of exhibitors trying to tempt you with your their comic wares.
Headlining the show will be Guests of Honour John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra, as well as Steve MacManus, Alan Grant, Ian Gibson, Glenn Fabry, Paul Holden, Mike Carroll, Eoin Coveney, Ryan Brown, Ian Richardson and Clint Langley.
Events that attending punters can look forward to include A Celebration of 40 Years Of 2000 AD in the Ardhowen Theatre on Friday 5th May. This will be the shows guests chatting about their time working for 2000 AD and and interacting with the audience. Tickets for this event cost £8 and are available via the Ardhowen Theatre website. Also on the 5th will be comic professionals heading over to Enniskillen Library as part of a schools programme aimed at local students.
The whole event will be brought to a very worthy conclusion withe a charity auction to raise money for the Horizon West Children’s Hospice.
