The Cardiff Independent Comic Expo Returns This June

It’s summer time and the living is easy right? Well not if you’re one of the team behind the Cardiff Independent Comic Expo (CICE) who I’m sure are knee deep in organisation mode.

CICE, which took a brief break in 2014, is coming back with a vengeance in its goal to produce a great con while giving a platform to the many creators out there in the indie scene. This love of indie comics is championed by Mike Allwood, the creator of CICE and who has been working  in the comic show scene for over 25 years.

“The independent creators are the very soul of our shows. Every year they raise the bar on the books they produce and to this day continue to push the medium to new levels. I’m delighted to have the opportunity once again to showcase the rich pool of talent we have in the UK with our small press creators” – Mike Allwood

The convention, which will be held on Saturday 27th June at Cardiff Masonic Hall, promises a nice line up indie comic creators.

Guests include 2000AD artists Mike Collins and Patrick Goddard, 2000AD writers Ian Edginton and Rob Williams, horror writers Wayne Simmons and David Moody. They are joined by superbly talented indie creators including: Ana Catris, Lou Scannon, Bearded Skull, Stiffs, Razarhawk, David Broughton, Godmachine, Sarah Millman, Stu.Art, and many more…

I was lucky enough to attend the first year of the expo and I can highly recommend folks check it out  as it really does have a great inclusive vibe for adults and kids alike.

Looking over at the con’s website there will also be a focus on the Cosplay aspect which has become a mainstay of most comic conventions these days.

We LOVE Cosplay at Comic Expo and for this show we want to make it even more interactive than ever!

All the exhibitors will have a number of COOL COSPLAY vouchers to give to their favourite Cosplay.  When you have collected 6 vouchers, just present them to the main Expo desk on the ground floor lobby and claim a Goodie Bag!

In addition there will be Spot Prizes that Team Expo will present to the Cosplayers that have impressed us the most

If you’re interested in going to the con you can pick up tickets(£5 with children under 12 getting in free with a ticket holding adult) from the con’s official website.
