The Dark Knight Rises sneak peak (minor spoilers)

Christopher Nolan has a lot to live up to in the third and “final” entry in his Batman trilogy. Geek Syndicate were invited to a screening of the first six minutes of the film.

Nolan has said that he loves the IMAX format but only filmed around 20 minutes of The Dark Knight using the technology. This time round he has filmed most of The Dark Knight Rises in IMAX and I can tell you it shows. I have only seen a couple of films in IMAX so I was still not sold on the experience until now. The film looks amazing and the detail just blew me away. So what did we see?

The 6 minute clip we saw was the start of the movie. We see Jim Gordon remembering his friend Harvey Dent at what looks like a funeral, and then we switch to the main piece of the clip. Without giving away too much I can tell you that we are introduced to Bane played by Tom Hardy in what can only be described as a hijacking, assassination and terrorist attack all rolled into one of best aerial action scenes I have ever seen.

The stunts look amazing and it looks like Nolan has not just outdone himself but has outdone movies in general by upping the ante on real set pieces and minimal use of CGI.

After the clip we got a 20 second roll of various clips which all looked great but the one thing that jumped out at me was a scene where we see Batman flying over a truck that is being followed by 3 Batmobiles (Tumblers) that all look like the one that Bruce Wayne first test drives in Batman Begins with the same camo paint job. Cannot wait to see what that is all about.

My only unhappy note was that Bane looked the part but I could only understand about 5% of what he said from under his mask. I am sure that Mr Nolan is aware of this and is busy getting it sorted in time for the release next year.
