The Expendables 3 – Press Conference Highlights

In just under ten days time we will get to see THE EXPENDABLES 3, the next installment in the action franchise. In preparation for the film’s release Geek Syndicate sent GS blogger Montoya on a mission to attend the press conference for the film. Stars in attendance were Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Kellan Lutz and Avi Lerner (Producer).

What We Learned From the Expendables 3 Press Conference

  • Jason Statham nearly drowned in a truck underwater.
  • According to Stallone the cast turn up fit then it’s downhill from there.
  • Producer Lerner says he gets hurt by salary of the cast. Stallone says he is happy to take the money.
  • Stallone confirms that there is less violence this time around but in its place is more humor.
  • More violent scenes  were filmed but later edited down to get a PG 13 rating. The original scenes should be out in the DVD release.
  • Stallone loves franchises and admits he wants at least another 2 or 3 films.
  • Originally Stallone wanted Mel Gibson to direct but Mel wanted to play the villain instead.
  • Lutz wanted to join the cast in 2009 for the first Expendables film but the part was taken out.
  • Stallone brought in some MMA action from Ronda Rousey and Victor Ortiz for the hybrid teams.
  • Sly wants Kesley Grammer for Expendables 4.
  • According to Learner with Stallone’s help they have seven franchise actors in this film.

In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

Lionsgate UK will release THE EXPENDABLES 3 on August 14th 2014
