The Hunger Games Heats Up

Hunger Games Opening CeremonyThree new posters for the upcoming film The Hunger Games (premiering on 23rd March 2012) have been released that give an impression of what life in the Capitol is like.

The posters are animated and show some of the different characters you meet in the Capitol: Seneca, Ceasar and Cinna. They look just like glossy magazine advertisements that you would find in magazines except with the added animation, they keep your eye on the page for a longer period of time. Perhaps this would be a good idea for digital magazines.

Lionsgate has also released a digital magazine, Capitol Couture which will give you a strong impression of what to expect of the Capitol; glitzy, vain and completely fabulous.  What is interesting is the use of real products from real designers such as Alexander McQueen and Dior, this gives the magazine a real-world, alternate reality feel.

With London Fashion Week this week, this magazine must have been planned to carefully jump on the perfectly presented tails of the fashionista’s blogging the hits and misses from the Fashion Week.

Also note the domain, .pn helping make Panem a real country.  By far my favourite pieces is Effie’s Enlightening Etiquette Guide  which gives sums up the character of Effie brilliant.

The Capitol is the controlling force over the other twelve districts which each year sends for one boy and one girl from each of the subservient districts in punishment for a rebellion 74 years ago. Each boy and girl must fight to the death in the televised entertainment show known as The Hunger Games.  It’s very safe to say I am still really excited about this film.
