Peter Ackyroyd’s novel Dan Leno And The Limehouse Golem looks set to be turned into a film as various companies have come together to make it happen. HanWay Films has signed a deal with Lionsgate Films allowing them to distribute the film in the UK and Ireland. The novel was written in 1994, with this film adaptation being penned by Jane Goldman, known for writing Kingsman: The Secret Service, amongst others.
As far as star power, the acting talent set to star in the film includes Alan Rickman, Olivia Cooke and Douglas Booth. Juan Carlos Medina is set to direct.
The Limehouse Golem is a gothic murder mystery set in 1880s London, with a chain of grisly murders leaving people to believe that the killer is something out of myth rather than more human in origin.
“Jane Goldman has created a gripping and twisting adaptation of this truly original and unique crime thriller. We know that Juan Carlos’s creative vision is the perfect match for it and THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM will truly stand out from the pack. Having LIONSGATE join us for the journey early on further validates and ensures the commercial outlook of the GOLEM.” – Thorsten Schumacher, Managing Director of HanWay Films.
