The Stand Movie adaptation finally Green-Lit

The Stand Comic Book

Stephen King fans can breathe a sigh of relief today, as it was announced that his acclaimed novel ‘The Stand’ will finally be adapted into a Movie. The rights to the horror story have been held by CBS for many years, but they recently realized that taking on the project with a partner would be the best option and teamed up with Warner Studios. Producer Roy Lee, of many horror films like The Grudge and The ring, has been named as the producer for The Stand.

For those who don’t know Kings work, or at least think they don’t know his work, novels he has written include The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile – Now two fantastic films. Also, Comic Book fans may recognize the name as The Stand was adapted into a Comic by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and published by Marvel.

The Stand focuses on a group of survivors in post-apocalyptic America as they battle the antichrist. There are many interlinking plot lines, as I’m told, and which take place over a long period of time. I simply hope that the Producers keep as close to the source material as possible, as the story has become a cult classic and the outrage of fans, and critics alike, would be huge.
