A Third Hellboy Movie is Announced and its a Reboot

For years now there has been a lot of will they won’t they talk around a third Hellboy. I was one of those in the ‘I hope they bloody well better do another’ camp. The Hellboy universe is one so chock full of goodies that you could just keep going and going with a film or a tv series *coughs* BPRD TV show please.

Well Hellboy creator Mike Mignola has announced via his Facebook page that there will be a another Hellboy film. The shock twist is that it will not be starring Ron Perlman or have Del Toro at the helm.

Okay, here’s some news–
There IS going to be another HELLBOY MOVIE.
It’s going to be an R rated reboot directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game Of Thrones) and staring David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy. – Mike Mignola

Wait I’m Hellboy?…no one told me!

The choice of David Harbour as Hellboy…hmm yeah I can actually see that choice. I do however still love Ron Perlman performance as I didn’t think anyone could bring Hellboy to screen and nail it.  I would have love to see him light up his cigar one last time.

I will miss Del toro unique visual style and the way he recreated Hellboy’s universe on the big screen. On the flip side if is Mignola heavily involved then I’m willing to keep my ‘benefit of the doubt’ cap on a little longer.

Apparently this will be a reboot which currently has the working title Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen.

So what do you lot think? Good/bad idea? What do we think of the recasting of Hellboy?…us enquiring geeks want to know?
