Tolkien Art Exhibition with Cor Blok, Ted Nasmith, Anke Eissmann at The Return of the Ring

Loughborough University plays host to  a Lord of the Rings inspired art exhibition.

If you are a huge Tolkien fan, this sounds like the perfect thing to get you even more excited about the release of The Hobbit later this year. Between the 16-20th August 2012  The Tolkien Society will be hosting ‘The Return of the Ring’ an event celebrating 75 years of the Hobbit which will be held at Loughborough University. Over the weekend of the event an art exhibition will be held. In attendance will be Ted Nasmith, Cor Blok, Anke Eissmann, Jay Johnstone, Jenny Dolfen, Ruth Lacon, Tor Fauskanger, Sue Wookey and Maike ‘Lúthien’ Dulk. Blok is known for his calendars and book A Tolkien Tapestry whereas Nasmith illustrated Silmarillion. As well as this there will be LEGO and a model  alongside of the Battle of Pelennor Fields. With such range there is something for any middle earth fan, including artist interpretations of scenes from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit that can be sampled here.

There promises to be so much to do at this event with the line-up continuing to grow with the likes of grandson Michael Tolkien, performer of ‘One Man LOTR’ Charlie Ross, authors and academics Brian Sibley, Tom Shippey, Verlyn Flieger, Colin Duriez, John Garth and Corey Olsen; directors of Born of Hope and The Hunt for Gollum Kate Madison and Chris Bouchard. The French Middle-earth re-enactment society The Company of the Green Dragon all also be putting in an appearance. The entire line-up can be viewed here

This sounds like a haven for fans of The Lord of Rings mythos and should be something that any fan young or old can get to they should. To book your place at The Return of the Ring, please visit: returnofthering Day tickets are available.
