Top Gun to get 3D Re-release

Tom Cruise’s classic “Top Gun” is being converted to 3D with plans of re-releasing the film in Cinemas. A preview of the converted footage was shown to visitors to the IBC in Amsterdam on Monday.

I’m not a fan of needless 3D in films. but i think that some films will look great with a 3D convert!

Legend3D, which is converting the film said:

We think there is great potential for catalog titles in 3D, but studios have had trouble justifying the expense, As I understand it, they are planning to release it in 3D in early 2012, though I known they want to get Tony Scott’s approval before they go forward.

The company also added:

I think ‘Top Gun’ lends itself to 3D due to the aerialflight. You can have fun with 3D by bringing things off the screen if they are not attached to the edge of the screen.

Meanwhile, Scott has been talking about a sequel to “Top Gun,” which he has been developing for about year.
