TRAILER – Total Recall

We hitch a ride on the reboot wagon with the full trailer for Total Recall.

My default position on reboots/remakes are usually they are a bad idea. My nice little world view, however, was shaken by the fantastic Star Trek reboot which breathed new life into the franchise (can we get a TV series now please?) I’m willing to go on a little faith once a project has been green lit. The latest title to be sent through the reboot machine is Arnie classic Total Recall. This new film has Colin Farrell taking on Arnie’s role with Kate Beckingsale and Jessica Biel along for the ride.

I know it’s only the trailer but it’s looks pretty darn good so far. It’s still got  feel of original film of the but  also seems to have giving it a vibe of it’s own. My only worry is what they will do with the big twist that floored me in the original? I wonder if they will go the same way or give us something different. If this trailer is anything to go by I’m going to have fun finding out.

Have a watch and let us know what you think.

Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of this world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers hi true identity, his true love, and his true fate.

  1. Woah! When I heard they were remaking Total Recall, my first reaction was “Really! can’t we try something new?”. However going by that trailer, if done well Films with the kind of ambition and an imaginative premise like Total Recall are exactly the kind of films that today’s special effects should be used to enhance.
Let’s hope the film lives up to the trailer 😉
