Mortal Kombat X is the latest game in the Mortal Kombat series, and Mortal Kombat XL is the ultimate Mortal Kombat experience. Mortal Kombat XL combines all of the DLC and extras previously offered for the fighter. So if you’ve not bought the game until now, this is your reward for procrastination. The extra content includes many skins and extra characters, like the Xenomorph from Alien, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or Jason Vorhees from Friday the 13, or the Predator. There are also new and returning characters, like Bo’Rai Cho, Tremor, Tanya, and Triborg.
Mortal Kombat, though a fighting game, has quite a story, and a ton of characters. So if you want to jump into the game starting with MK XL, you might want to pick up or download Mortal Kombat 9 before you jump into X. Playing through Mortal Kombat X‘s story mode isn’t impenetrable; this is a B action-horror fighter, not an epic novel, after all. What’s good about MK9 is that it takes all of the previous events of the Mortal Kombat timeline, reboots it, and retells it. So if you’re a Kombat newbie, or it’s been awhile since you’ve uppercut a fool into spikes, then you only need to own two games to get all the MK you’ll ever need.
We’re not here for blah blah blah. We’re here to see what the hell Mortal Kombat XL is! So look at this trailer. WARNING: There’s a chance that you don’t know how gross and gruesome Mortal Kombat has become. The following trailer is incredibly graphic. Consider yourself warned!
Mortal Kombat XL will be available on the 4th of March in Europe. It will be available on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
