Wii U Virtual Console Launches this Spring

Virtual ConsoleNintendo president Satoru Iwata has announced that the Wii U will introduce a Virtual Console this spring. At launch, players will be able to download NES and Super NES games with Game Boy Advance titles to be added at a later date but there was here was no mention of GameCube titles.

The Wii U Virtual Console titles will allow players to save their game progress and a bonus will be that the games can be played on the Wii U GamePad and will feature support for Miiverse. On the downside, the revised game allowing saves, gamepad play and Miiverse compatibility means that same gamers will have to pay to download games they may already have from the original Wii or 3DS.  Ahead of the start of the new service, Nintendo will offer several NES and SNES games for trial for 30p in the UK or $0.30 in the US for 30 days. Titles include Balloon Fight which is now available and the likes of F-Zero, Donkey Kong and Mario & Yoshi to follow.
