COMIC REVIEW: Creator-Owned Heroes #3

Creator-Owned Heroes is the best magazine/anthology/dual story comic book to come out in a long time. With American Muscle by Steve Niles and Kevin Mellon, and TriggerGirl 6 by Justin Gray, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Phil Noto, Creator-Owned Heroes delivers two different stories, both of which are fantastic. On top of two top-notch stories there are editorials, pictures, and interviews!

With American Muscle, we see what exactly happened to Gil after he left the group. The rest of the group finds him, and in the course of rescuing him and getting a map of the wasteland, angers a group of already unstable mutants. What comes next month is sure to be something to look forward to.

In TriggerGirl 6 this month, TriggerGirl 6 decides she needs some questions of her own answered and escapes government custody to find out where she came from and who she really is. The President is tracking her, seeking answers of his own. The ending of this issue leaves some big questions to be answered next month!

Steve Niles and Kevin Mellon make American Muscle a joy to read. The snappy writing and the beautiful art come together to make a completely enjoyable read overall. The two come together well and make a story that I personally absolutely love. This story, with its fantastic art, makes Creator-Owned Heroes something special.

Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, and Phil Noto create sheer beauty with TriggerGirl 6. The writing is exquisite and the art is just phenomenal. Even if you don’t like the writing, which I don’t see why you wouldn’t, you would have to read TriggerGirl just for Noto’s amazing art.

In this issue, Mark Waid gives a great interview with Jimmy, and that may have been my favorite part of the book since I’m such a big fan of Waid. In addition to this great interview, there are some pictures of fans, editorials, and the creators talking about what they love. It’s a great overall package.
