Well I’m a big Dead Space fan and can wait for Dead Space 2 which is coming out next week. I’ve just come across this news of a Dead Space digital comic and game for iPhone, iPad and iTouch which I hadn’t heard about till today. EA Mobile has confirmed that this iOS version of the game on 25 January the same day as Dead Space 2 is released.
The new game has it’s own story that bridges the events between the first and second console games. It is a 3rd person shooter that uses touch-anywhere controls for movement and a variety of gestures for more specialized actions. The game will also feature a weapon upgrade system similar to the console games. The image above is from the iOS game so you can see that it looks good graphically.
With Dead Space 2, Dead Space Extraction and this new iOS game, Dead Space fans will have 3 games to play on the 25th January.
Additional to the new game there is also a new digital Dead Space comic. The app is called Dead Space: Salvage, and it costs £4.99 on the App store. It picks up from the end of the original game, as the USG Ishimura, the most famous of the Planetcracker class starships, is flung from orbit around Aegis VII after the disastrous events of Dead Space. It is lost somewhere in deep space, and both the Government and a powerful religious sect called ‘Unitology’ believe it may still hold the Red Marker, an alien artifact that promises great power for either side, and both will stop at nothing to reach it first!”
The comic itself is the work of author Antony Johnston and sci-fi artist Christopher Shy. You can pinch and zoom to get a closer look at the artwork, while swiping to turn the virtual pages.

Earlier this week I attended the IGN UK and Energizer’s exclusive First Look event that showcased EA and Visceral Game’s Dead Space 2 at the Soho Gallery in Central London. I got the opportunity to play some of the early single player chapters of the game and from what I played Dead Space 2 is every bit as good, scary and intense as the original.
The game takes place on a densely populated space station, called the Sprawl which leads to some new and very different environments to the USG Ishimura mining ship. Hero Issac Clarke returns and this time we not only get to see his face but he also speaks. Isaac’s suit also now has mini jet thrusters built in allowing Isaac to manoeuvre during zero gravity sections and there are also new weapons at his disposal.
As previously revealed Dead Space 2 has a mulitplayer mode pitting 4 on 4 humans vs Necromorphs objective based games.
Dead Space 2 will be release on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on 25 Jan 2011 in the US and 28 Jan 2011 in Europe. The PlayStation 3 version will include Dead Space: Extraction as a PlayStation Move compatible title.
A playable demo will be released December 21 on Xbox 360 and PS3
Genre: Survival horror, Action, third-person shooter

EA has revealed the new boxart for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Dead Space 2. As you’d expect, the packshots aren’t too dissimilar to the US boxart shown off earlier this year – although you can see a bit more of Isaac’s helmet
