TV REVIEW: Doctor Who Series 7 Episode 13: The Name of the Doctor
Posted by wedgedoc on May 18, 2013

So it’s here. Episode thirteen. The finale. Of the fiftieth anniversary series of Doctor Who. It has a tantalising name, and the teaser is equally tantalising:
The Doctor has a secret he will take to his grave. And it is discovered…
Please read on to see what I thought of the story, it’s secrets (I’ll try to be non-spoilery where possible) and all that jazz.

Inside The Tardis Dress!
Posted by pythiasparlour on May 16, 2013
Cosplay can be done gloriously well, or hideously badly- a certain lady by the name of Kirsty Delwig has taken the decidedly unusual step of cosplaying not as a character, but as a console!
Here, in all its neon glory, are the controls of the TARDIS (particularly reminiscent of the version used by the Ninth and Tenth incarnations of the Doctor) as depicted in a dress!

TV REVIEW: Doctor Who Series 7 Episode 12: Nightmare in Silver
Posted by wedgedoc on May 11, 2013

Taking Clara’s two young wards on a trip in the TARDIS probably doesn’t sound like the best plan in the world. Official words:
The perfect theme park day out is also ground zero for a deadly silver resurrection..
Neil Gaiman returns to bring the Cybermen back into our nightmares. Does he succeed, or is this his Silver Nemesis?

TV REVIEW: Doctor Who – Series 7 Episode 10: Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS
Posted by wedgedoc on April 27, 2013
Writer of 2010′s Curse of the Black Spot, Steve Thompson returns to Doctor Who with an episode whose title should have long-time and new fans chomping at the bit . The official summary goes like this: “The TARDIS has crashed, Clara is lost inside, and the Doctor has 30 minutes before his ship explodes!”
Is this an epic exploration of the most famous time machine in history? Does it equal the previous TARDIS centric story The Doctor’s Wife? Find out below…there are spoilers so you’ve been warned! Read the rest of this entry »

TV REVIEW: Doctor Who Series 7 Episode 9: Hide
Posted by wedgedoc on April 22, 2013

The first three episodes of this season have been nicely standalone and have provided a variety of story types. Neil Cross returns to write the fourth episode, following The Rings of Akhatan two weeks previous. Here’s the blurb:
Something terrifying is hiding in Caliburn House, and the Doctor finds himself part of the ghost hunt.
I had mixed feelings about Rings, so how does ghost story Hide compare?

TV REVIEW: Doctor Who Series 7 Episode 8: Cold War
Posted by wedgedoc on April 15, 2013
This third episode of part two of season seven (let’s not split season’s again please) is one I was both looking forward to and wary of at the same time. Here’s the official summary: “On a Russian submarine, a frozen alien warrior is waking up, just as the TARDIS arrives.”
My wariness came mainly from the rebooting of another classic villain. I’ve had mixed feelings about the other re-boots – save the Silurians which I’m not a fan of. Except Madame Vastra! So how did this episode appeal? Click on to find out (beware: this review contains SPOILERS!)
