TV REVIEW: Misfits – Series 3, Episode 2

Posted by SpaceGandalf on November 7, 2011

Misfits explores date-rape, gender and sexual harassment with mixed-results.  Bored with the direction in which his life is heading and still banned from athletics, Curtis decides to use his new gender-swap power so that he can compete again.

In true Misfits style, there’s a complication when Curtis falls for Emma, one of the other athletes, while he’s training as his female self.

But Curtis is in a predicament, because he can’t tell Emma the truth about his real identity. Meanwhile, a predatory figure turns his attention to female Curtis. *Contains spoilers*

Someone’s Not Returning to Misfits Next Series

Posted by Sharlene Mousfar on April 11, 2011

To the surprise of many (or maybe just me), a major character in the BAFTA-award winning series Misfits will be leaving the show “in typical Misfits fashion.” And that person is…

TV REVIEW: Misfits – Christmas Special

Posted by SpaceGandalf on December 20, 2010

Official episode guide: The gang have finished their community service, but it’s the week before Christmas and they’re all stuck in crappy dead-end jobs. Alisha meets Seth who has the ability to ‘deal’ super-powers. Alisha holds out her hand, Seth touches her and Alisha’s power is gone. Alisha tells the rest of the gang and they decide to sell their super-powers. Meanwhile Elliot, a disillusioned priest, visits Seth and buys some super-powers that will allow him to pass himself off as Jesus. And Nathan meets a girl at the community centre ante-natal class and is instantly smitten – has Nathan finally found his soulmate?
*contains Spoilers*

Thoughts

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this episode – it coming just 3 days after the season 2 finale. Would it be a stand alone Christmas-themed episode or would it continue to build on the show’s mythology? It was actually a bit of both. Surprisingly, it was an unmissable episode in that it was a bit of a game changer – setting the Misfits up what promises to be an exciting third season. That they will have new Read the rest of this entry »

TV REVIEW: Misfits – Series 2 Episode 6 – Season Finale

Posted by SpaceGandalf on December 17, 2010

*contains spoilers*

Official E4 episode guide: The gang’s superpowers have been exposed to the entire world. They’re ruddy famous celebrity super heroes! And they’re being called the ‘Asbo Five’. Why? There’s serious money to be made – they just need to handle their fame. Ensconced in a luxury hotel, the newly outed heroes become the target of a sinister killer with the most bizarre power yet.

Thoughts

Well, well, well….I really enjoyed this week’s episode. Once again, it was a perfect blend of comedy, drama and tension.

Misfits – Series 2 Episode 4 – Review

Posted by SpaceGandalf on December 3, 2010

Slightly shorter review this week due to a lack of WiFi. I blame the snow – the cause of all the world’s ills apparently.

Spoiler-free episode guide taken from the official Misfit’s site:

Meet Ollie. He’s an environmental protester starting his community payback. And guess what? He has a power! Is the gang about to get a brand new member?

Whilst out on the street picking up rubbish the gang run into Tim. Tim is aggressive and irrational – pretty much what you’d expect from their estate. Unfortunately for the Misfits, he has taken a particular dislike to them: they had better start running.

Elsewhere Nikki, the mysterious girl from Curtis’ flash forward, has a heart-transplant which causes some unexpected side-effects…

TV REVIEW: Misfits – Series 2 Episode 3

Posted by SpaceGandalf on November 26, 2010

Recap *spoilers*

Alisha is mugged but is rescued by Superhoodie, who, it turns out, can touch her without turning into a horny psycho. Nathan and Simon go with Kelly to get her tramp stamp (no offence) retouched. Jealous of Kelly’s relationship with Nathan, Vince (the tattooist) does something weird and superpower-like to his shoulder. On the way home Nathan ditches Kelly in favour of a boy’s night in with Simon. Alisha provokes a fight in the street, hoping to once more attract the attention of Superhoodie. He does indeed come to her rescue, but not before she falls down a flight of stairs and loses consciousness.

The episode begins with Nathan taking his clothes off (much to Kelly’s delight), applying suntan lotion in a way that only Nathan can. Meanwhile, an unknown man is driving frantically; in his boot is a gagged and bound Dexter Fletcher. Read the rest of this entry »

TV REVIEW: Misfits Series 2 – Episode 1

Misfits Series 2 – Best Press Conference Ever (Audio Interview)

Posted by geeksyndicate on November 5, 2010

Last night I was privileged to attend a screening for the 1st episode of the new series of Misfits.  Watch the website for a review of the episode.

Before the preview however, I and a few others were lucky enough to get some time with the cast.  I have to say this was one of my favourite press conferences ever.  The guys are clearly great friends and very comfortable with each other and as you will be able to hear it was a great laugh.

All the cast were there – Nathan (Robert Sheehan), Kelly (Lauren Socha), Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett), Alisha (Antonia Thomas) and Simon (Iwan Rheon).

The recording starts when I ask the first question and ends when Johnathon Ross enters the room as he had to change into an orange boiler suit which was funny in itself.

So brace yourself for inappropiateness and enjoy – Misfits Press Conference
