If you enjoy Greek mythology and loved the epic fights of 300, then Immortals will be right up your alley. Tarsem Singh takes on the story of heroic villager Theseus who stands up to fight the mad King Hyperion. He’s searching for the Bow of Epirus, a weapon of legend that will give him the ability to overthrow the Gods of Olympus. The film stars Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Isabel Lucas, Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, John Hurt, and Mickey Rourke. I’m expecting lots of great fight scenes and hope that the story is just as strong and visually arresting as Singh’s The Fall. Click below to see the newest trailer & official synopsis:
Visionary director Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) and producers Gianni Nunnari (300), Mark Canton (300) and Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter) unleash an epic tale of treachery, vengeance and destiny in Immortals, a stylish and spectacular 3-D adventure. As a power-mad king razes ancient Greece in search of a legendary weapon, a heroic young villager rises up against him in a thrilling quest as timeless as it is powerful.
The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his murderous Heraklion army are rampaging across Greece in search of the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, the king will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their wake, and it seems nothing will stop the evil king’s mission.
As village after village is obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) vows to avenge the death of his mother in one of Hyperion’s raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra (Freida Pinto), her disturbing visions of the young man’s future convince her that he is the key to stopping the destruction. With her help, Theseus assembles a small band of followers and embraces his destiny in a final desperate battle for the future of humanity.

Here we have our first look at Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent and Amy Adams’ Lois Lane. I think Cavill is going to nail his portrayal of Clark.
What do you think? From this one single image do you think they got the casting right?
**UPDATE**
Some doubt has been cast upon this image. It could be (a very good) Photoshop of a Smallville image Big clue is the Line down the center of the image where it looks like it’s been stitched together. If anyone has the original image floating around i’d like to see it!
**UPDATE**
Here is the original image i tracked down.

Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares.
Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes. Rallying a band of fellow outsiders-including visionary priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and cunning slave Stavros (Stephen Dorff) – one hero will lead the uprising, or watch his homeland fall into ruin and his Gods vanish into legend.
Not sure what to expect from this film but I’m a sucker for fantasy and it sure does look pretty. Also Mickey Rourke is looking pretty bad ass in this as the villain.

Now this film looks like a cross between 300 and Clash of the Titans. It has a great cast including Mickey Rourke, Henry Cavill (the new Superman) and Freida Pinto. It comes out in November.

The quality is not great but it gives you a good idea. Keep an eye out for this one folks.

So even though we all pretty much knew this was going to be the title Warner Bros have now confirmed that the title of the new Superman film being directed by Zack ‘Watchmen’ Snyder will be called ‘Man of Steel’. Personally I like the title as it’s a nice way to try to step out from huge shadow cast by Reeve’s Superman films.
The more interesting news is that it has also been announced that Superman’s foe in the film will be none other than General Zod himself, formerly played Terence Stamp. The man stepping into the black shiny jumpsuit for this outing will be Michael Shannon. Like Henry Cavill who stars as Superman in the film I’ve never seen Shannon in anything, which I see as a good place to start for me as I’m coming to this film without any pre conceived ideas of what to expect from his performance. However Stamp’s performance as General Zod set him up as one of our most beloved baddies and gave Geekdom one of it’s most iconic lines (‘Kneel before Zod’) so Shannon has some pretty big evil boots to fill.

More exciting casting news for Zack Snyder’s Superman: Man of Steel flick! I have to say that I’m much more enthused about this than I was before. So who’s playing the tough-as-nails reporter?
Amy Adams has been cast in the iconic role of Lois Lane in the upcoming reboot. Snyder said that “Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful.”
Adams joins Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Kevin Costner (Jonathan Kent) on the production. “Second only to Superman himself, the question of who will play Lois Lane is arguably what fans have been most curious about,” Snyder said in a statement Sunday.
Tell me about it! I’ve been the most curious about who would take on the role since I thought the casting of Kate Bosworth in the last go around was a poor choice. My favorite Lois Lane ever was Teri Hatcher’s Lois from Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, so for me, she’s the litmus test by which I’ll test Adams’ Lois against.
Superman: Man of Steel is currently set for a December 2012 release. Do you agree or disagree with the casting? Who’s your favorite Lois Lane?

So it seems that the new Superman film, from the Watchmen and 300 director Zack Synder, is starting to gain pace in it’s casting.
Diane Lane has now signed onto the film in the role of Clark Kent’s adopted mum Martha Kent. She is the first casting announcement since that of Superman himself who will be played by Henry Cavill.
So what do we think good or bad casting?

Now we all now that Henry Cavill has signed up to play the Man of Steel in the all new Superman film by Zack Synder and we wish them the best with it. There were however rumours long before Cavill signed that John Hamm was in the running to play Superman. Some folks thought this was a great choice and although we will never get to see what Hamm would be like on the big screen as the world’s most famous kryptonian this artist’s impression by Phil Noto may give you some idea what we’ll missing out on.
Let us know what you think!
