Brogen here coming to you from Cannes Flim Festival for GS!
Pixar’s upcoming release, Cars 2, has taken over the Carlton Hotel in Cannes.
Models of Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater have taken up residence outside the Carlton Hotel on La Croisette in a marketing campaign for the sequel to the most commercially successful Pixar film to date.
Below is the extended trailer for the sequel to the smash hit Cars by Disney Pixar. The orginal movie was fun and looked amazing on the big screen. Cars 2 has a whole new plot device which should work well. Pixar have never really done a bad movie and this does not look to change that. Directed by John Lasseter and Brad Lewis and coming out in the summer. Check out the official Cars 2 facebook page. The cast are all back so sit back and enjoy the ride.
T Star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2” when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.
John Lasseter returns to the driver’s seat to direct this follow-up to his 2006 Golden Globe®-winning “Cars.” “Cars 2” is co-directed by Brad Lewis, producer of the Oscar®-winning film “Ratatouille,” and produced by visual effects industry veteran Denise Ream (associate producer, “Up”; visual effects executive producer, “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”).
“Who uses stamps these days?” you say. Believe it or not even in this digital age, people still send physical mail! And for those that do, the United States Postal Service has been coming out with loads of cool and unique stamps every year. For instance, I have some of the 2006 DC Comics stamps featuring Superman, Batman and the Hulk among others.
2011 will continue the partnership with Disney for their “Send a Hello” stamps, which go on sale August 19, 2011. Originally a series of three annual issuances depicting friendship, celebration, and romance, they were so popular that it was expanded to celebrate imagination and magic.
The sheet of 20 stamps includes five different designs featuring Pixar characters: Lightning McQueen and Mater from Cars (2006); Remy the rat and Linguini from Ratatouille (2007); Buzz Lightyear and two of the green, three-eyed aliens from Toy Story (1995); Carl Fredricksen and Dug from Up (2009); and the robot WALL*E from WALL*E (2008). Check out the stamps below and visit the official website or your local post office to order if you’re Stateside!
After watching the dire Ice Age 3 (by the way I loved the first Ice Age) last night it’s nice to see a press release like this and be reminded that are some cracking computer animated stuff out there.

Beyond the Toybox: An Alternative Commentary Track
With the film due out in the UK soon (19th July to be more precise) we thought we’d give you a few more looks at what is being touted as the final Toy Story instalment (unless it makes a gazillon dollars then who knows).
I loved the first two films and so far number 3 seems to be on the right track to not letting down it’s preprocessors.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that a early cut of Tron was shown to the creative team at Pixar, including “John Lasseter, Ed Catmull, Brad Bird (The Incredibles director), Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3 screenwriter), and others” with an eye toward creating material for re-shoots that took place over a six-day period this past June.
That is AWESOME news! if you are going to have anyone help make a movie it might as well be the people behind some of the greatest movies of the past 20 years!
now if they can just get moving on a Incredibles 2 movie we can all be happy
I loved the first two Toy Story films so I’m really hoping that Disney/Pixar can pull it off again with this third film. So far the signs are looking good and they’ve got one hell of a voice cast lined up to join the regulars.
I also like the plot as it feels like this is an evolving story. In Toy Story we see how Woody has to deal with a new flashier toy and fighting for his owner’s affection. In Toy Story Two it was about what happens when a kid starts to get a little too old for toys and now, with Toy Story 3, we get what feels like the conclusion…what happens to toys when the child becomes an adult.
Fingers crossed!
TOY STORY 3

Director: Lee Unkrich
Producer: Darla K. Anderson
Voice Cast: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Estelle Harris, John Morris, Laurie Metcalf, R. Lee Ermey, Jodi Benson, Ned Beatty, Bonnie Hunt, Timothy Dalton, Jeff Garlin, Whoopi Goldberg and Michael Keaton
The creators of the beloved “Toy Story” films re-open the toy box and bring moviegoers back to the delightful world of our favourite gang of toy characters in TOY STORY 3. As Andy prepares to depart for college, Buzz, Woody and the rest of his loyal toys are troubled about their uncertain future. Directed by Lee Unkrich (co-director of “Toy Story 2” and “Finding Nemo”), TOY STORY 3 is a comical new adventure in Disney Digital 3D™ that lands the toys in a room full untamed tots who can’t wait to get their sticky little fingers on these “new” toys. It’s pandemonium as they try to stay together, ensuring “no toy gets left behind.” Meanwhile, Barbie comes face to plastic face with Ken (yes, that Ken). Pixar veteran Darla K. Anderson (“Cars,” “Monsters, Inc.”) produces, while Michael Arndt, Academy Award®-winning screenwriter of “Little Miss Sunshine,” brings his unique talents and comedic sensibilities.
Ok I’ve seen a load of clips and images for the new Toy Story film but this clip by far beats them hands down and for the first half kinda creeped me out a little.
I didn’t like this one as much as the first clip but it was still a nice slick teaser.

TWITCH
Meet Twitch, the insectaloid warrior, where MAN + INSECT = AWESOME! This sturdy action figure stands over five inches tall, with more than 15 points of articulation, including ferocious chomping mandibles. Use his powerful wings and impenetrable exoskeleton to evade capture! Twitch is meticulously detailed and includes his signature magical battle staff and removable chest armor. For children ages 4 and up. Other insectaloid figures sold separately.
Blimey this guy looks like an insect version of He-Man. I’m kinda glad this dude is actually a toy and not a real life evil insect overload bent on world domination…or is he?
Voice Cast: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Estelle Harris, John Morris, Laurie Metcalf, R. Lee Ermey, Jodi Benson, Ned Beatty, Bonnie Hunt, Timothy Dalton (who in a perfect world would be playing a toy Timelord!), Jeff Garlin, Whoopi Goldberg and Michael Keaton

Ok before The Incredibles came along Toy Story 2 was my all time fave animated film from the kick ass team at Pixar who it seems just can’t put a foot wrong. At the moment I’m wondering if the combination of great visuals, 3D and some great writing can knock The Incredibles from it’s lofty perch.
Woody and Buzz the gauntlet has been thrown squarely at your plastic feet sirs!
To help whet your appetite for the new movie Disney will revealing their characters in an advent-calender style fashion. So without further ago here we go!
Disney Pixar often imitated never duplicated proves again why it sits on the top of the mountain when it comes to 3d movies.
Up is the story of Carl Fredricksen on a voyage to South America by way of a homemade airship in memory of his late wife and Russell who ends up coming along for the ride after believing a joke too much, on the way they meet exotic birds, a mad adventurer and a pack smarter than your average dogs.
