I first became of aware of Phillipa Rice and her incredible talent earlier this year when a friend introduced me to her and told me to check out her work on line. I was stunned at the amount of work that must go into this web comic that is made from actual paper, cardboard and other materials. It’s not just incredibly creative, it’s really good as well.

The Organisers of Thought Bubble 2010 had a crew go round with a camera and get interviews with some of the guests!
Check it our and see if you can spot yourself! Stacy Whittle (Small Press Big Mouth) can be seen at 6 mins and 50 seconds and Daniel Clifford (North East Geek Feast) can be seen at 12 mins 24 seconds
Unfortunately they felt that my presence on the video would over shadow the rest of the attendees so i was purposely edited out
Nick Thompson and Rosie K. Stoker enter the Saviles Hall for a wander round the Thought Bubble Comic Convention.
Only one of them returned.
Includes chats with Gary Chudleigh and Graeme Kennedy of Obscure Reference Comics, Tim Plicher and GM Jordan of the UK Comic Book Alliance, Ian Sharman of Orangutan Comics and writer/artist Al Davison.

Origami is one of those things that fascinates me because I’d love to be great at it but I’m hopeless. Kristyna Baczynski has created something especially for us folks and here she is to tell us about it and her other arts and comics

Barry reviewed this comic a while back and absolutely loved it. Not only that but the boys have a discerning taste for whiskey so it’s all good as far as I’m concerned.
Here they are to tell you about Hope For The Future

Both Barry and I are big fans of Cinebook and the variety of creators, stories and genres that they are introducing to the UK and American comic scene. So we caught up with the owner to see how Thought Bubble was treating them.

Sugar Glider #1
Writer: Daniel Clifford
Artist: Gary Bainbridge
22 page standard comic
£3.00 Out Now!
I picked up This Small Press comic from writer Daniel Clifford, Host of The North East Geek Feast Podcast, at this year’s Thought Bubble convention in Leeds, UK. It’s about a ordinary Geordie girl called Susie Sullivan, who has to not only deal with the normal things young women deal with, like babysitting her sisters kid and tiding her room, she also has to fight crime as the masked vigilante “Sugar Glider”.
Currently in Newcastle there is a Anti-Capitalisms movement that is getting tired of handing out flyers and is about to take the next step! Read the rest of this entry »

I was so intrigued by the name I decided to get an explanation of what this comic was. Apparently “Bahala na” is a Filipino phrase which is sometimes translated as “Leave it to God”. While this usually comes across as a fatalist or passive attitude, it is also a motto for daring or impetuous acts, so that’s the spirit that this comic was created in. If your as intrigued as I was then check out the video and get yourself across to Bahala Na
