The Other Guys – Trailer and Images

Posted by geeksyndicate on June 30, 2010

New York City Detective Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) is a forensic accountant who is more interested in paperwork than fieldwork. Detective Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg) has been stuck working with Gamble since an embarrassing shooting. Gamble and Hoitz both admire top cops Highsmith (Samuel L. Jackson) and Danson (Dwayne Johnson), but when Gamble and Hoitz’s chance to prove themselves arises, things don’t go as planned

The last time I really enjoyed a film with Will Ferrell it was Anchorman since then every film he’s done he’s pretty much been the same (with varying levels of shouting) I hope he can return to form with this but after seeing the trailer not so such.

Still the central premise is a funny one and having Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock and Samuel L  Jackson cameo as Super cops may steal the film out from under the collective noses of Wahlberg and Ferrell.

Megamind – Trailer

Posted by geeksyndicate on May 27, 2010

From the studio that brought you “Shrek,” “Madagascar” and “Kung Fu Panda.”  The brilliant and diabolical super-villain Megamind has been attempting to conquer Earth for over 20 years but, each time, he’s been thwarted by his arch nemesis, the caped superhero Metro Man.  But all that changes one day when Megamind accidentally kills Metro Man in the throes of one of his evil plans.  Suddenly finding himself without a foe to overcome, the despondent evil genius decides that the only way out of his rut is to create a new super rival.  He’s a bigger, better and stronger opponent than Metro Man ever was. But when the former good guy begins to wage his own war aimed at destroying the world, Megamind must decide:  Can he defeat his own (now) diabolical creation?  Can the world’s smartest man make the smart decision for once?  Can the Evil Genius switch sides and become the Hero of his own story?

Megamind – Trailer

Hmm I think this looks pretty good with some solid animation but I get the feeling it could be a bit too over the top for me. Even when he’s doing a voice over work Will Ferrell is still pretty much Will Ferrell (unless he’s in Anchorman which I loved).

For now I’m moving my chair to the ‘wait and see’ part of the room.

Brad Pitt joins Will Ferrell in Dreamwork’s Oobermind

Brad Pitt has singed up to do the voice work for a new the animated movie from Dreamworks entitled Ooobermind.

Oobermind, played by the ever shouty Will Ferrell, is a supervillian who has managed to do the one thing every good supervillain dreams of – defeating their arch enemy.  Pitt will play Metro Man who gets his ass handed to him by Oobermind.

Like most things in life the story then becomes a tale of ‘be careful what you wish for’ as Oobermind now bored creates a new heroic opponent to do battle with only to discover his new nemesis is more evil than himself.

I like the premise and the casting of Pitt and Ferrell in the role of Superhero and Supervillain is spot on in my book.

I look forward to hearing more about this project.

LOTL_still_1_lo

SYNOPSIS

Space-time vortexes suck.

Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into one and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world—a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost.

Sucked alongside him for the adventure are crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride) named Will. Chased by T. rex and stalked by painfully slow reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only ally—a primate called Chaka (Jorma Taccone)—to navigate out of the hybrid dimension. Escape from this routine expedition gone awry and they’re heroes. Get stuck, and they’ll be permanent refugees in the Land of the Lost.

Based on the classic television series created by Sid & Marty Krofft, Land of the Lost is directed by Brad Silberling and produced by Jimmy Miller and Sid & Marty Krofft.
