The Cartoon Series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” is Cancelled

Intertitle from the Cartoon Network television...

One of the best things about the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy comes to an end.

The Clone Wars was a show that somehow managed to do something that I thought was impossible which was actually make me care about anything that came out of the prequel films (yes alright the third film was ok). More than that I even found myself caring about the Clone Troopers themselves even though I knew they were going to become the rebels most hated enemies, the stormtroopers. It was always the clones stories that I found  far more entertaining than the Jedi centered episodes. So it’s with a heavy heart I must lay down my trooper blaster and report that the fifth season is the show’s last. The one bright spot for me is that I’ve yet to watch season five so at least I have all those episodes to prepare myself for the end of a fantastic cartoon.

All is not lost though as there is the promise of future content.

“While the studio is no longer producing new episodes for Cartoon Network, we’re continuing production on new Clone Wars story arcs that promise to be some of the most thrilling adventures ever seen. Stay tuned for more information on where fans can soon find this bonus content.” – Lucasfilm

In terms of what we can expect to see in terms of future Star Wars animated shows Lucasfilm teases with this statement.

“We are exploring a whole new Star Wars series set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming. You can expect more details in the months to come.

Now R2 Please play the Medals Ceremony music from Star Wars while we stand in salute of a great show.
