The Dark Tower keeps getting bigger

So, there’s this series of books that I LOVE, and for years the author would just torture all his fans by not writing any more.  Fears would be raised in private and in the press about his health and then BAM another one would come out, we’d all rejoice, devour it in about a day and a half and then mope for another few years.

The author’s masterwork has been optioned and is being turned into a tv series (and also a trilogy of films) with Huge anticipation starting to build already – and now suddenly there’s the news that a NEW BOOK is coming out and the Squee! factor increases a million-fold.

Yeah, I know – I’m feeling a sense of de ja vu as I write this, but I couldn’t be happier to tell you all that Stephen King is returning to his incredible Dark Tower series with a brand new novel called The Wind Through The Keyhole.

For those of you unfamiliar with these books, you need to think of a Sergio Leone spaghetti western given a chivalric knightly twist in a post-apocalyptic world, painted vast on a Lord of the Rings kind of canvas.

The Wind Through the Keyhole is an interquel, fitting neatly between books 4 and 5.  I’ll point you to Stephen’s website here, as he can explain it far better than I.

He informs us that the book is finished and we can expect to see it on the shelves next year, so greenhorns and hardened trailhands alike couldn’t choose a better time than now to pick up the first volume The Gunslinger and start working their way through the series.  It’s a long and bumpy ride, but the sights and stories along the way make it well worth taking.
