Virgin 1 Relaunches with Red

Red Smile

Seeing as I’m a subscribed to Virgn I’m always interested to see what their up to so when I got this latest press release I thought hmm. I’m all for rebranding if that means were going to get more than a new puppet but also get some new shows as well to go along with it.  Personally I’m still waiting on a video game channel even if it only ran in the evening that would be cool.

Check out the press release for more info:

Red is three foot tall and completely red from his pointy ears to his four knobbly toes. He loves celebrities and blagging his way into their parties and whatever door a bit of cheeky banter will open. He lives in his own bespoke bachelor pad, and has always wanted to become famous using his (he thinks) pin-sharp wit and intellect. He’s now the face of Virgin1 as the channel has completely rebranded.

Red has become Virgin1’s newest recruit, making the channel his new home, taking on the enviable job of introducing the channel’s new line up of shows including The Life and Times of Tim, Chuck (season 2), one off specials The Naked Office, Why Men Watch Porn, and the Jim Davidson special So You Think I’m An A***hole. In addition to his new role, Red will be pursuing his own personal ambitions; making his presence felt away from the channel online and as he becomes a man about town this summer in his pursuit of fame, and maybe even a celebrity girlfriend.

Virgin1 were looking for a new face and with the interview process kicking off with a grilling from Richard Branson himself, a raft of candidates were seen. But the channel’s bosses ultimately fell for Red’s movie-star good looks and cheeky banter which lit up his screen test. The fact that his colour scheme matched the channel’s branding didn’t hurt either, of course.

Red’s a consummate fame-seeker and has been desperate to get into – and onto – TV since he was small(er). He has had past appearances on Jim’ll Fix It, Byker Grove and Emu’s Pink Windmill Show. Red will be using his blog, Facebook and MySpace pages to recruit himself as many celebrity friends as possible. In fact he’ll even be starring on screen with some of Virgin1’s biggest stars including Zachary Levi, star of US spy-fi Chuck, as well as creating his own irreverent take on programme favourites such as The Unit, Star Trek and Trawlers Rigs & Rescues.

Red will be the star of Virgin1’s rebrand, featuring a new logo and a new channel line-up and has been brought to life by Paul Jormain, the creative talent behind PG Tip’s ‘Monkey’. Fans of Red can talk to him direct at his MySpace and Twitter pages at;

Commenting on his new role, Red said:

“I feel like Susan Boyle, only better looking. I applaud Virgin1 for having the brains to take me on when so many others have missed their golden opportunity. I’ve got a new pad, some new garms and I’m ready to hit the airwaves.”
