Doctor Who – Live on Stage

In October, Doctor Who Live hits a UK tour. You may have spotted various Aliens in and around various TESCO supermarkets earlier this month (I missed them when they were in my area… or they deliberately avoided me, I’m not sure which). This was a prelude to the main event which starts in October.

Young Ones Actor Nigel Planer stars as Vorgenson, the Doctor’s biggest fan. The show follows this intergalactic showman as he summons various Who monsters in his minimiser. Matt Smith will appear in pre-recorded inserts and the show should have something for everyone. The show’s producer states:

“This show has something for everyone – Doctor Who fans, of course – but also anyone with a love of incredible illusions, immersive storytelling, magical music, scary monsters, and intergalactic heroes.”

Music from the show will be performed live, and master illusionists, stunt-artists and effects engineers will be on hand along with Cybermen, Ood, Scarecrows, Winston Churchill (played by Who Voice Talent Nicholas Briggs) and more will be on stage.

Tour dates are as follows:

  • London Wembley Arena – 8th, 9th and 10th October 2010
  • Sheffield Sheffield Arena – 12th and 13th October 2010
  • Glasgow Glasgow SECC – 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th October 2010
  • Birmingham Birmingham NIA – 18th, 19th and 20th October 2010
  • Manchester Manchester Evening News Arena – 22nd, 23rd and 24th October 2010
  • Nottingham Nottingham Trent FM Arena – 25th and 26th October 2010
  • Cardiff Cardiff International Arena – 28th, 29th, 30th, 31st October 2010
  • Liverpool Liverpool Echo Arena – 2nd, 3rd November 2010
  • Belfast Belfast Odyssey Arena – 6th and 7th November 2010

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster and range from £25 to £38.05 or £27,50 to £42.50 in Belfast.

I’ll definitely be going if tickets are available after payday as this sounds like a really fun specatacular event.

  1. Already got my tickets and can’t wait to see it.

  2. I wish this production would come to the USA, but I’m not holding my breath. Hopefully there will be a DVD release to give us Yanks a taste.
