Second Annual True Blood UK Convention

Whether you are an avid fanatic, have only caught a few episodes or have always been a little curious about the show, I suggest you read on.

It started last August in a hotel in Northampton. A good few hundred fans of the HBO original series, travelled both nationally and internationally (some from as far at the US and Australia) to attend the first ever UK True Blood convention, Bitten.

There were laughs aplenty, experiences not soon forgotten, chilled out chats with cast members, and everyone’s favourite pastime, cosplaying. So it gives me the greatest of pleasures in telling you that Bitten 2 will be back at the Park Inn hotel in Northampton from Friday 5th August to Sunday 7th 2011.

Last year, our guests were Jim Parrack (Hoyt Fortenberry), Kristen Bauer Van Straten (Vampire Pam), Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte) and Todd Lowe (Terry Bellefleur). We got the chance to sit through Q & A’s for all the actors, enjoy personal chats in small groups; there were photo and autograph opportunities, a private wine reception for gold pass holders and themed parties, where the guests mingled with the convention goers.

The event programmes available for purchase are (event is for ages 16 and up):

Standard Adult Programme at £78
Silver Programme at £135 – Limited to 150!
Gold Programme at £195 – Limited to 150!

A break down of what is included with each program is available here.

The first announced guest is Mehcad Brooks.

Mechad Brooks joined the cast of True Blood in season two playing Benedict “Eggs” Talley after first appearing in the season one finale. Eggs entered the scene with the mysterious Mary Anne claiming she had helped him turn his life around. Tara was instantly attracted to him and soon they found themselves in a relationship and Mary Anne’s newest playthings. As the series progressed Eggs was used by Mary Anne more and couldn’t live with what he had been forced to do.

Brooks has appeared in a number of other series, perhaps most notably his role during season two of “Desperate Housewives” as ‘Matthew Applewhite’ for 23 episodes. Mechad also appeared in 7 episodes of “The Game”, 6 on “The Deep End”, and is currently a regular on the new series “My Generation”. His guest appearances include “Dollhouse”, “Ghost Whisperer” and “Cold Case”. Brooks also has roles in the upcoming movies “Blood is Blood” and “Fencewalker”.

I strongly recommend this convention; it was so much fun last year and promises equal, if not more, this year. And if anything, it is a chance to make some fantastic new friends and dress up for a weekend!
