Welcome to The British International Comics Show 09!

So, after three successful conventions, The Birmingham International Comics Show is pulling a move worth of Dr Who. It’s regenarating into THE BRITISH INTERNATIONAL COMIC SHOW.

I caught up with Shane Chebsey, one of the organisers, to grill him about the name change.

This is simply to reflect how the show has become the UK’s largest comic industry event and to help attract a wider variety of visitors, exhibitors and sponsorship.

We also don’t want to be limited to Birmingham as a location for the show, and the name change allows us flexibility on this front.
We think Birmingham is the best location for a show, as it is a culturally vibrant city with excellent facilities and is easily accessible from all over the UK, and the rest of the world, thanks to the superb local airport and rail connections.
However, we are always looking at other possible venues and events that International Comic Shows as a company can offer, both to the industry and to fans.

Shane and his team are hard at work developing a new website and are hoping to be making some major guest annoucements in February.

  1. Fab news. BICS has just gone from strength to strength and Shane and his team have worked bloody hard to raise its profile and deserve every success with it.
