Microsoft planning to launch its first original TV series in early 2014

xboxlive_logoWhen Microsoft unveiled the Xbox One earlier this year one of the announcements they made was their plans to make original  TV programmes exclusively for Xbox One and Xbox 360 Xbox Live subscribers through its Microsoft Entertainment Studios. At the time they revealed that they were working on a Halo TV series that would be produced by Steven Spielberg. Well now it looks like the first of these original series will be coming in the first quarter of 2014.

Following an interview with Variety, Nancy Tellem president of entertainment and digital media and former television executive that Microsoft has brought in to produce original programmes said “We’re hoping we will be able to put something up in the first quarter, at minimum second quarter. I’m incredibly ambitious and impatient.”

“We aren’t Netflix, we aren’t Amazon, we’re a different animal. The content and what we’re building will be an important part of our future.”

Tellem did not confirm any details of the programme she is hoping to launch in the first quarter but having recently watch the live action Halo 4 – Forward Unto Dawn web series as a complete film. If that is anything to go be for the qualify of programming Microsoft will be developing then Xbox Live subscribers are in for some treats.
