DC Despatches: Arrow, Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman (in Batman vs Superman)

11 DC

Whether it’s Warner Bros, The CW or the DC stable themselves, here are the world-wide mutterings!

Just WHO will be the new Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor in Batman vs Superman, and now NightWing set to appear in Arrow?

Wonder Woman: Okay, so the other week we announced that Jaimie Alexander had revealed that she might well be in the frame to play the template female super hero(ine). Well, it seems she is out of the running due to her contract with Marvel for the role of Lady Sif. But now there’s a raft of actresses all in the frame, including Quantum Of Solace and Oblivion star Olga Kurylenko as the front-runner, as well as Fast & Furious 6 star Gal Gadot and GI Joe: Retaliation‘s Elodie Young. All these gals have experience with action scenes, and fit the original casting bill of “tall, brunette, athletic and exotic”. Whilst Warner Bros haven’t officially confirmed that Wonder Woman will even be in the next Man of Steel movie, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive concerning who has and hasn’t been asked to audition for a key pivotal role in the new film. As much as everyone is looking forward to the prospect of the World’s Finest on-screen together for the first time, can you imagine the backlash if she doesn’t appear now!?

Batman vs Superman: Man of Steel 2‘s director Zack Snyder has alluded to the inclusion of Superman’s classic nemesis Lex Luthor in Batman Vs Superman, stating  that he’ll be focusing on the character’s view of himself as defender of humanity, rather than the classic evil genius. “Lex loves calling [Superman] an alien,” Snyder said, “I like that.” Check out the rest of Yahoo! Arrow: It has been rumoured that former Robin, Dick Grayson, would be making an appearance as Nightwing in Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs Superman, but now it looks like the CW’s Arrow may get there first!. Steven R McQueen, (The Vampire Diaries), , “Had some superhero conversations with the executives this weekend @ARROWwriters.” He then added a photo of himself with a T-shirt with the DC Animated Universe’s Nightwing logo on it. Nightwing has been alluded to in the show’s past, with Bludhaven – the character’s chosen city, being mentioned back in Arrow Season 1. Kyle Higgins, also copied in on the Tweet, is the current writer of Nightwing, having helmed the title since its New 52 reboot. So the $1M is, like with Stephen Amell (Arrow himself), does this mean we’ll have two Nightwings in due course, or is Steven McQueen now in the running for the Man Of Steel sequel too?
