NetherRealm Studios Announce Mortal Kombat X With Brutal Trailer

NetherRealm Studios has officially announced Mortal Kombat X, the next game in their Mortal Kombat series. Not a lot of information was revealed but more details will be revealed at E3 next week.

Mortal Kombat 9, or just Mortal Kombat, served as a reboot for the fighting game series, while also paying reverence to the latter games. The thunder god, Raiden, served as the focal point of the story, and his journey through time changed the whole Kombat timeline. That was 2011: what’s next? Better yet, who’s next?

Official game blurb

Fueled by next-gen technology, Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with dynamic gameplay to create an unprecedented Kombat experience. Players step into an original story showcasing some of the game’s most prolific characters including Scorpion and Sub-Zero, while introducing new challengers that represent the forces of good and evil and tie the tale together.

The song you’re hearing is by Whiz Khalifa, called “Can’t Be Stopped.” I’m not a fan of this song, at least not in the context of this trailer. Sometimes music works well with a trailer, while there are times where a song seems disjointed when used improperly. That’s not the real business of this trailer; let’s get into the Kombat. We see the two MK favorites, Sub Zero and Scorpion, going at it in the forest, and we have a clear winner by the end. That’s it! That is all the information we have so far. Developer Netherrealm has given no more information about story or any other characters.

Mortal Kombat X will be released on PS4, Xbox One, Ps3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2015.
