Sci-Fi by the SeaQuel: Family fun day out in Herne Bay

Sun. Sea. Sci-Fi. What more do you need on Father’s Day? And like any successful science fiction event, a sequel inescapably follows. 2013 saw the inaugural Sci –Fi by the Sea in Herne Bay, Kent, from the same team that brought you the Herne Bay Zombie Crawl. Colin Baker was the star of the show and he returns in a big, brighter and better event, next Sunday, 15 June 2014 alongside fellow Doctor Paul McGann.

So, we have the Doctor in his 6th and 8th incarnation. Who else will be materialising in the sunny sea-side town of Herne Bay? Peter Purves provides suitable companion cover. Anyone from the Star Wars universe? Only David Prowse, Femi Taylor, Tim ‘It’s a trap!’ Rose, Peter Roy and others. A whole wealth of talent from the world of Sci-Fi film and TV are appearing, such as Chris Barrie and Hattie Hayridge (Red Dwarf), and Virginia Hey (Farscape). Many more guests are confirmed (with the usual caveat that ‘all guests appear subject to work commitments and charge for autographs. Autographs charged at £10 or more’).

What about other attractions? Sci-fi props abound. Daleks patrolling the arena, looking for the Tardis. Laser tag and live music. Expect superheroes popping up all over the place. Is it a car or a robot? (It’s Bumblebee). Check out the Batmobile and see the Staypuft Man. Of course there’ll be plenty of sci-fi stalls selling comics and memorabilia.

Sounds like a great day out. I’ll be there for sure! So, from 11am to 5pm on Sunday 15 June, get yourself along to the fields of Herne Bay Junior School. For the bargain price of £6 for adults, £4 for kids (£17 for a family of four), what are you waiting for? Well, Sunday 15 to come around, obviously. Buy tickets online (tickets on the day extremely limited) and get more information from the Herne Bay Promo Team
