Titanfall Tops UK Sales Charts and Boosts Xbox One Console Sales

Rewspan’s highly anticipated Xbox and PC exclusive first person shooter Titanfall has topped the UK Sales Charts after its release last week. Titanfall also provided an expected boost to Xbox One sales by 96%. This was also aided by the new Titanfall release bundle Microsoft announced a couple of weeks ago along with a price cut to £399.99.  The sales of the Titanfall bundle accounted for 70 per cent of Xbox One hardware sold last week.

The game was also released on PC but no figures have been given for the sales split between PC and Xbox One. Following a delay, the Xbox 360 version will not be available until the end of March meaning that if the game does not maintain it’s number 1 status there is a good chance it could be number 1 again after the 360 launch.

Microsoft will be hoping similar boosts in sales are experienced globally. They have not confirmed the sales of Xbox One since saying the console has sold 3.2 million units as of the end of 2013, and following Sony announcing that the PS4 has top 6 million units sold as of 5th March, I expect Microsoft are waiting to see the sales increase Titanfall gives them before making any announcement.

The UK top 10 chart weekend ending 16th March.

2. Dark Souls 2 (new entry)
3. South Park: The Stick Of Truth (ranked 1st last week)
4. The Lego Movie Videogame (ranked 4th last week)
