Wildseed Studios and SCI-FI-LONDON to offer £10,000 in Film Challenge

Talent funder Wildseed Studios has teamed up with SCI-FI-LONDON to offer one of the short-listed teams in its 48 hour film challenge £10,000 along with other resources that will help produce a micro-budget film.

The 2014 SCI-FI-LONDON 48 hour film challenge takes place between 12th and 14th April, a few weeks before the festival itself. Contestants turn up at the BFI Southbank on the Saturday, make a film over two days and then submit the film by the Monday. The film will then be judged at the festival which follows a few weeks later.

The judging panel includes Danny Boyle, Professor Brian Cox and Catherine Bray. The winning film at the festival and four other teams will be selected by Wildseed Studios to go through a mentoring and development scheme. One of the projects will be chosen to receive the aforementioned cash injection and support to produce the project as a micro-budget feature.

Director of SCI-FI-LONDON Louis Savy said: “We are delighted to announce this partnership and be in a position where, thanks to Wildseed Studios, we can offer one of the shortlisted teams £10,000 cash toward a micro-budget feature! This is a really incredible opportunity for emerging filmmaking talent, so get ready for the challenge – we want to see your feature film in next year’s festival!”

Previous winners of the festival include Gareth Edwards who won in 2008. He is now directing the new Godzilla reboot!
